This weekend was a busy one! Friday night I was thrilled to be on the host committee for one of my favorite events supporting breast cancer awareness, Tickled Pink for Bright Pink. It was a great time for an amazing cause, and it was extra special because it was the 10th year the event has taken place. If you’re not familiar with Bright Pink you can read my interview with founder Lindsay Avner, who became the youngest patient in the country to bravely opt for a risk-reducing double mastectomy at age 23. Her story is fascinating, and her mission to promote breast cancer awareness, specifically among young women in their 20′s and 30′s, is heroic.
The rest of the weekend was just as much fun, consisting of things like a family brunch, more pregnancy classes at the hospital (bring on the fake babies!) and all the Oscar excitement, of course. I saw The Theory of Everything just before the big show, and I’m so glad I did as it was one of my favorites to date, and Eddie Redmayne definitely deserved to win (I had previously been blown away by Michael Keaton in Birdman).
Peter and I also found time this weekend to take a few maternity photos. Everybody keeps reminding me that I’m going to want tons of photos of this bump when it’s gone, and I realized specifically that I don’t have many photos of the two of us together since I’ve been pregnant so our good friend Hallie Duesenberg took care of that. If you’re in Chicago and need a photographer for anything (family photos or otherwise) she’s one of the best, and made what could have been a super awkward maternity shoot quick, easy and painless!
