When Her Campus‘s College Fashion Week rolled into town on Saturday we thought who better to cover the occasion than our fabulous intern, Brittany Hinrichs, who recently graduated from college, with a focus in, what else- fashion! College Fashion Week is a signature Her Campus Media event series. This month, shows hit Boston, New York City, Chicago and San Francisco. Brittany was on hand here in Chicago covering the event not only for TCLB but also in partnership with Teen Vogue!
Thanks to sponsors like TRESemmé and bareMinerals, Brittany was given the full backstage experience, getting her hair and makeup done alongside the models. One of the highlights of this was getting her hair done by top TRESemmé stylist Tyler, who’s spent 6 of his 8 years with the company working on Project Runway! Tyler is also part of the styling team backstage at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which TRESemmé is the official haircare sponsor of. He gave Brittany a sleek up-do, perfect for her ladylike look, and finished it off with TRESemmé’s 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray- which we mention only because Brittany’s still raving about how amazing it smelled!
After hair, it was off to the bareMinerals makeup counter. Brittany is still cracking up about how hilarious her makeup artist was! She kept Brittany laughing the whole time, and was so excited to find out that she wasn’t in fact one of the models because that meant she had free reign to create whatever type of look she wanted. Since Brittany typically doesn’t wear too much makeup, they agreed on keeping the look natural while adding a smokey eye and a pretty pink lip.
Once Brittany was beautified and ready to go it was time for the show to start!
The fashion show consisted of three labels developed by college students in Chicago- Imperial, Brooklyn Princess, and Woodlanders. In between designers, guests were entertained by musical performances from a University of Chicago acapella group, a DePaul dance company, and a Loyola student who the host introduced as the next Alicia Keys- the audience loved it!
