I’ve been hearing a lot about “pregnancy brain” lately, and while I’m not sure I believe that there’s any actual science behind it I can’t say I haven’t been quick to blame my occasional forgetfulness, which absolutely existed pre-pregnancy, on it. Last week I made the most glorious mistake. Well, it actually all started a few weeks prior when I penciled in Thanksgiving for a week earlier than it actually is on my calendar, and blocked off the surrounding days for our trip home to Michigan. It wasn’t until early last week when I realized that one of my meetings was probably not being rescheduled for Thanksgiving afternoon, and that the problem was most likely on my end. This happy accident resulted in four completely free, unbooked days, a week out from the actual holiday. Unheard of.
So what did I do with my new found freedom? Well, for starters, there were copious amounts of Sex and The City reruns. Then there was a dinner with my middle school boyfriend… and his boyfriend, which was an absolute blast and probably resembled a Sex and The City rerun. Peter and I had a leisurely brunch with friends, and I caught up with a friend from NYC over dinner. Gatherings which were made all the much more fun by the fact that they were totally spur of the moment. The moral of the story? Being busy is so overrated. I have got to clear out my calender more often, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way, especially this time of year.
